Prep notebook: Henry out with elbow injury
Putnam City guard Xavier Henry, who sat out the Pirates' win against Choctaw on Friday night with an elbow injury, will likely return to the court Tuesday, but may wait another week to be cautious. Xavier Henry hurt his left elbow and bicep attempting a dunk in practice last Monday. The junior, who is ranked No. 2 nationally in the 2009 class by Rivals.com, has practiced with the team, but is limited to non-shooting drills.
"It'll be alright. I'm trying to get 100 percent before I go at it again,” Xavier Henry said. "It was fun watching them play without me. A couple of guys really stepped up.”
In Xavier Henry's absence, five Pirates reached double figures, led by junior Tyler Earls with 19 points and Emilio Desmar with 15 points.
Fellow Pirate junior Hunter Gibson will also likely be out for a week. Gibson, the younger brother of former Putnam City and current Hawaiistandout Matt Gibson, had to get multiple stitches in his shooting hand Thursday night.
