Hoop star Boyd will decide school
Boyd played at Norman High as a freshman, then transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia for his sophomore season. The 6-foot-5 guard is playing with Athletes First this summer, having joined the Oklahoma City-based NIKE AAU team for the Memorial Classic in May.
With his decision to play for Athletes First came the general assumption was that Boyd, who left Oak Hill because he said the school was too isolated, would be returning to Norman High for his junior season.
But Boyd is considering Arlington Country Day because of the national stage they play on (they will play Oak Hill next season) and their coach Rex Morgan.
"Rex Morgan has seen me play a lot,” Boyd said. "He wanted me to come down for my ninth grade year and my sophomore year. He really wants me to come down there this year.”
As much as he likes Morgan, Norman High remains a possibility since Boyd has a desire to remain close to home. Asked if Norman is still in consideration, Boyd said: "Definitely. My mom is here and at Norman, in Oklahoma high school basketball, Terrance Boyd will be the thing (well known).”
One thing is certain. Boyd will be playing for Athletes First in the Nike Peach Jam July 12-15.
He will join Xavier Henry, Daniel Orton, Kyle Hardrick and Keiton Page on a team that is expected to compete for the tournament championship in North Augusta, S.C.
